Magneto, Professor X, and Wolverine seem to be young adults, but everyone else is a teen. Presumably because marketing told the creators it would be more "accessible", the mutants in Evolution have been scaled back to teenagers. X-Men: Evolution seems to have been created to capitalize on the success of the first film, but with a twist. Very few people that have seen the movies have read the comics, but everyone seems to know why Wolverine is cool and that the Dark Phoenix Saga is awesome - the kids that grew up on the cartoon series are now older and are jonesing for the same old exciting fix. I'm quite confident that a large part of the movies' success is due to the mid-'90s cartoon show. It seems that the latest flick in the franchise, X-Men: The Last Stand, may very well out-gross the previous two entries.

The recently released third season will give you your mutant fix, but don't be surprised if you find yourself snoozing off every now and then. Until they let the show out of the vault, we've got X-Men: Evolution - a decent successor, but not a worthy replacement. For whatever reason, the Mouse House has not seen fit to issue boxed sets of the beloved cartoon. Sadly, then-Marvel (as the rights owner) went bankrupt and the ownership was transferred to Disney.

If you're reading this then you've probably got fond memories of the mid-'90s X-Men series.
